For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1970-71 Sheaffer White Dot Imperial Fountain Pen with Sterling Silver Diamond Grid pattern. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the old ink sac with a new, properly sized silicone sac and barrel o-ring. Hand polished the Sterling Silver Cap, Clip, Sterling Silver Barrel, Blind Cap and 14K inlay NIB. This fountain pen cap and barrel are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the cap, barrel, and blind cap to bring back the shine of the Sterling Silver of the fountain pen. The cap displays the White Dot with a Gold Filled Clip with it being stamped on the cap lip, "STERLING SILVER CROWN HALLMARK/LOGO SHEAFFER U.S.A.". The barrel is in great condition with no dings or denting. This Sheaffer Imperial Touchdown Filler Fountain Pen is a full-size model measuring 5 3/8" in length capped and 5 3/4" posted. Neither the cap or barrel displays any monograms or personalizations.
This Sheaffer has a working Touchdown Filling system. I replaced the old rubber sac with a new rubber sac and changed out the old barrel o-ring with a new, properly sized authentic reproduction o-ring. I have restored, greased, and tested the Touchdown Filling mechanism with water and now works as it was intended to.
This Sheaffer has a 14K Inlay Nib that writes so smoothly with a wet line. The actual iridium tip on this Sheaffer Nib has a medium point measuring roughly .73mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .74mm with light writing pressure and can flex up to 1.34mm under medium to firm pressure when I measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was performed by dipping the Nib in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a great Sheaffer Sterling Imperial Touchdown Model Fountain Pen is a magnificent pen that has a great presence in the hand when writing. I would grade this Sheaffer Imperial in Excellent to Near Mint Condition.
