Product Details
For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1948 Parker 51 Double Jewel Vacumatic Fountain Pen in Black Celluloid Color. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, ultrasonically cleaned and put back together and is now in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, collector, breather tube, hood, barrel, and NIB. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the 1/10 16K Gold Filled Cap, Gold Filled Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Clutch Ring, and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap, and hood to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the plastic. This Parker 51 measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen barrel, blind cap, and hood are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Gold Filled Cap has the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip that has been polished and displays no brassing. The cap secures to the barrel snugly. There are a couple of very tiny dings to the cap and one tiny scratch - I tried to show them all in the images. They are very minor which makes the cap, not in Mint Condition but better than 90% of the caps out there in my opinion. The Barrel is stamped on two lines with, "PARKER "51" MADE IN U.S.A. with date 8 (for 1948) in the 4th Quarter".

This Gold Filled Cap from Parker has a cartouche area which has not been personalized. The cap patterns consist of clusters of 9 lines repeating all around the cap. The cap is clearly stamped with, "1/10 16K GOLD FILLED MADE IN U.S.A.". The chevron cap lip banding is clean and crisp. The blind cap and Gold Filled cap have the pearlized jewels both in excellent condition. The blind cap tassie has been polished to a high shine.

The Parker 51 has the correct plastic filling unit for a 1948 model. The filling system, typically in my tests with water, will fill nearly full in roughly 9 to 11 presses. I have greased the Vacumatic pump and now operates as it was intended to.

The Parker NIB is 14K and is a stub that measures .77mm when measuring with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .53mm and has a hint of flex where the medium line measures .77mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is the Iconic Parker 51 Vacumatic that is completely restored and ready to write. I would consider this Parker 51 to be in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
